Our Effective Transitions Fund project, known as Dorset Marvels, is entering its’ final phase, and having supported 120 young people from across Dorset who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment, or training), we are building on some critical learnings and celebrating some true success stories.
Janek Tarnawski, Enterprise Co-ordinator and Effective Transitions Project Lead at Dorset Council, Dorset Careers Hub recently attended a meeting at funder JP Morgan’s offices in London. The impressive project, running over two years and replicated in ten different areas, aims to help inspire young people from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and create far-reaching impact on our communities.
Post-pandemic, with more young people than ever struggling with confidence and resilience and lacking employability skills, extra support to achieve their next best steps has been invaluable. The team shaped the project to meet the needs of each individual within the group, quickly realising one size did not fit all.
There are so many positive stories to share from the Dorset Marvels initiative. Hear from Ryan about how his work experience at Marsham Court Hotel helped him with his next steps towards his future, alongside boosting his confidence and self-belief. Ryan's Story
Huge thank you to our partners, Education Development Trust, for their support on delivering this project.
Despite some inevitable challenges, knowing we’ve been able to address and build on them is amazing. We have received additional funding, and are delighted to now be launching a new project. Look out for news about our Targeted Transitions Fund soon.
