Alternative Provision and SEND support

Helping to ensure that every young person is educated and given the information, skills and contacts needed to prepare them for future employment opportunities.

We work in partnership with The Careers & Enterprise Company and schools & colleges throughout Dorset to help to proactively deliver careers guidance based on the government’s National Careers Strategy.

We do this through our Enterprise Coordinators within BCP Council and Dorset Council who are dedicated to SEND and Alternative Provision and work with careers leaders, businesses, parents and carers across the county.

We help to ensure that every young person is educated and given the information, skills and contacts they need to prepare them for the future and create employment opportunities.

There are many specialist resources and a fantastic community providing information, advice and support for young people and their families.

We have also created Dorset Your Futures. An online platform which offers information about future study options, labour market opportunities and the Local Offer.

SEND Virtual Transitions Fair is an online ‘event’ for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disability (SEND), their parents, and carers. Inside our virtual exhibition, you will find a wide range of information from local support groups and organisations, as well as on careers advice, and education and employment pathways, across the whole of Dorset, all in one place!
